Certified Translation

Most authorities in Canada, such as Citizenship and Immigration Canada, Service Canada, Human Resources and Skills Development Canada, the Canada Revenue Agency and many other agencies, require officially certified translations. A certified translation means that the translator has provided a signed statement that the translation is a true and accurate translation of the original. Certified translations are usually required for legal documents such as business contracts, court transcripts, immigration documents, adoption agreements, birth or marriage certificates, police clearance certificates, passport stamps, employment records and diplomas. A certified translation can only be provided by a translator who has been accredited by an officially recognized translation body such as the STIBC – Society of Translators and Interpreters of British Columbia. We add a paragraph at the bottom of the translated document to certify the accuracy of the translation and provide details of the affiliation to the STIBC as well as the accredited translator registration number. We also apply an official embossed seal to the translated document and to the original with the accompanying declaration.

Citizenship and Immigration Canada or other ministry or agencies might specifically require to have a copy of the original document certified (notarized) as a true copy of the original document by a local notary public. This copy has to be stapled to the certified translation. Notarized translations are usually required for education related documents such as high school transcripts or foreign diplomas. You don’t need a notarized translation if you decide to staple the original document (birth certificate, etc.) to the translation.

Certified translation

You can order certified translation online by simply filling out the quote form, sending a fax to 1-833-896-5106, or by emailing us a copy of the documents to be translated. You don’t need to send the original documents, but please make sure that the copies you send to us are clear and legible. However, we reserve the right to request original documents for verification. You will have to sign a public statement confirming that the copy you submit to us is a true copy of your original document. You will be able to prepay for the work online. Your translation will be ready for pickup at our office or mailed to any address in Canada at no cost using Canada Post. If you prefer we can send the documents using FedEx at an extra cost. You can also receive the translated documents by email if you do not need any certification. Most translations using our regular service are completed within 5 business days. Notary certification

You can send us your documents by post or drop by our office and leave your documents for translation if you need the original documents to be certified as true copies of the original by a notary public. It takes a few extra days to get a notarized copy of your documents and costs $50 per copy. Once ready, we will staple the translation and the notarized copy together. The notarized true copy of your original document will be ready for pickup at our office or mailed to any address in Canada at no cost using Canada Post.
